Craftucation is a new online course platform from the artisans behind Ewe Felty Thing.
Ewe Felty Thing is a boutique craft shop created by Nikki Small and run with the help of Wendy Collins and Ann-Marie Warren. We’ve been open since early 2018 and even before that, we were teaching courses and classes in a variety of crafts. From felting, crochet and knitting, to book sculpture and even a weekly art class for home-educated kids. We have covered a wide range of topics and helped many different students explore their creativity.
Our courses and classes have always been hugely popular in the shop, but we were often told by friends and customers how difficult it was for them to attend them in person due to other commitments such as work, family or health.
When lockdown started in March 2020, we finally had the time and opportunity to sit down and start working out how we would like to get our courses online. We realised that there wasn’t a platform out there that was dedicated to high quality, in-depth art and craft courses, that enabled independent art and craft tutors to create their own courses easily, and that helped students to not only find the course they wanted but to feel supported whilst they take it.
We were lucky enough to find, through suggestions from our creative network, the most fantastic web developers, Graeme and Colin of Peroosh and our marketing guru, Sarah Steinhoefel of The Smart Bear to bring our vision of Craftucation to life and to make it work in all the complicated ways that we wanted it to.
Nikki had been running classes under the name Craftucation for over three years and so it seemed the perfect name choice for our new venture. Craftucation is a home of online art and craft courses. Welcoming, supportive, and always having the kettle on!
We really hope that you’ll come with us on our journey as we grow this new and exciting makers platform, and in return we look forward to accompanying you through your own creative journey.
