Course Description

Learn how to make a beautiful sculpted snowy owl cake with realistic features. This course covers basic structure, cake carving, ganaching, using sugar paste, creating textures and working with Isomalt.

What You’ll Require

  • Dresden tool
  • Metal brush tool
  • Small, serrated Knife
  • Large, serrated knife
  • Pallet knife
  • Rolling pin
  • Feather cutter or similar
  • Cocktail sticks
  • 12” cake drum
  • M8 steel rod
  • M8 base nut
  • M8 nuts and washer
  • Hot glue gun (optional)
  • Foil tape or foil/clingfilm
  • Ribbon
  • Glue/double sided tape to attach ribbon
  • Dusting brush
  • Fine paint brush
  • Small plate or dusting pallet
  • Bowl
  • Silicon Eye mould
  • Heat proof ramekins/ silicon cup
  • Heat Protective gloves
  • Spreading knife
  • Cooks Blow torch
  • Heat proof mat
  • Pre tempered Isomalt
  • Cocoa butter
  • Dusts: Black, yellow, orange
  • Dipping solution/alcohol (such as vodka)
  • Edible glue
  • White sugar paste approximately 1.5kg
  • Light brown sugar paste or light brown gel colour
  • Dark brown sugar paste or dark brown gel colour
  • Buttercream as per recipe
  • Ganache as per recipe
  • Cakes as per recipe
  • Jam or other fillings (if required)
  • Confectioners glaze spray
